The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots have been on a collision course over the last three months. The teams are a combined 16-3 since the start of November and have looked like the two best teams in the league over that time. They’ll face off in Super Bowl XLIX.

Let’s breakdown the matchup:

When Seattle has the ball

The Seahawks’ passing game was exposed by the Packers in the NFC title game, and the Patriots have the personnel to replicate Green Bay’s gameplan. Once again, Seattle’s fortunes will fall on the legs of Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson.
WHEN THE SEAHAWKS THROW: The Seahawks wide receivers spent a lot of time after the NFC Championship telling people just how underrated they are. Those same guys spent the first 55 minutes of that game showing people why they are criticized so often. Green Bay’s cornerbacks had no trouble shutting down Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse in man coverage with little safety help over the top.

In Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, the Patriots should have no trouble doing the same. Expect Revis to be left on an island against Baldwin and Browner to draw Kearse, Seattle’s lone deep threat, with help from a safety over the top.

If New England can consistently take away Wilson’s first option and keep him contained in the pocket, the Patriots, who finished 20th in the league in sacks in the second half of the season, will get to the quarterback. Wilson tends to hold on to the ball and can struggle to get to his second and third reads at times which will lead to some long sacks:
