Armour: Ndamukong Suh has no one but self to blame for suspension

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh and the Detroit Lions brought this on themselves.

The NFL's decision Monday to suspend the Pro Bowl defensive tackle for Sunday's wild-card game is a huge blow to Detroit's postseason hopes. But if the league is as serious about player safety as it claims to be, it had no choice but to let the Lions know it won't tolerate an NFL version of Detroit's Bad Boys.

You can argue whether Suh intentionally stepped on Aaron Rodgers' leg toward or not toward the end of Sunday's game. The first time looked inadvertent, the second time was more questionable. When it's the leading candidate for NFL MVP on the ground, however, the league is always going to side with the player who has cleat marks on his leg.
