Producers buy movie rights to Yasiel Puig's coming-to-America story

The complicated details of Yasiel Puig’s journey from Cuba to baseball superstardom, as presented in Los Angeles Magazine earlier this month, seemed like a movie plot. Now, they might be.
It’ll make for a great movie, certainly. But it’s worth noting that the producers didn’t buy the rights to Puig’s story from Puig; they bought the rights to the L.A. Magazine article, in which Puig did not really participate. And it seems awful strange to produce a biopic about a living person who’s not at all eager to have his story shared.
