This is the best Thanksgiving in NFL history

(AP)

Let’s cut to the chase, since we all have turkey to eat: This is the best slate of Thanksgiving games in NFL history.

In 2011, I did a thorough analysis and determined (through math!) that the 2011 games featured the highest cumulative winning percentage for all teams playing on Thanksgiving. That year, the six teams had won 70% of their games entering turkey day. That tied the mark set in 1975 which, oddly, was the first of just two years the Dallas Cowboys didn’t host an Thanksgiving game. But 2011 got the nod over ’75 because there were more teams involved and we all tend to devalue history.

The combined winning percentage of teams this year is considerably lower — just 64%. That’s only good for eighth all time. So why does FTW rate this the best Thanksgiving ever, on paper?
