Dale Jr. isn't getting married - yet

5-2-2014

TALLADEGA, Ala. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. said the National Enquirer's recent story about his wedding plans were news to him.

Earnhardt laughed when asked about the report Friday at Talladega Superspeedway and said he didn't know he was getting married.

"We just skipped the engagement, I guess," he said. "Went right to the wedding."

Earnhardt has been dating Amy Reimann for several years but said he doesn't have any wedding plans yet. And if he did, the wedding wouldn't take place at Daytona International Speedway as the Enquirer suggested.

"Of course not," he said. "I wouldn't force everybody to go down to Daytona for my wedding. I'd probably just have it right there in the backyard (of his North Carolina home). Whatever is easiest."

The Enquirer reported Earnhardt planned to have a procession around the track in racing-themed cars, ending with a checkered flag at the finish line. The tabloid also said Sheryl Crow and Brooks & Dunn would perform.
