Kevin Ware expected to be with Louisville at Final Four in Atlanta

If all goes according to plan with the early stages of his recovery from surgery, Louisville guard Kevin Ware will be going home: not just from the hospital in Indianapolis to Louisville, but from Louisville to Atlanta, where the Final Four will be contested in the city where he played high school basketball.
Ware, a 6-2 sophomore guard for the Cardinals, suffered a compound fracture of his right tibia when he landed after jumping to challenge a shot by Duke’s Tyler Thornton in Sunday’s Louisville victory in the Elite Eight.
Ware required a two-hour surgery at Methodist Hospital to reset his leg, insert a steel rod and close the wound that developed because it was a compound fracture. But the surgery was described as successful, and the only immediate concern is that he not develop an infection near the wound.

“He's up and about. He's on crutches walking. They want his blood flowing,” coach Rick Pitino said Monday on the NCAA Final Four teleconference. “If no infection takes place, he'll be very excited. It will be a long recovery, but we expect him to make a full recovery in a matter of time. It will take lengthy time, but we expect him to make a full recovery. He'll be with us in Atlanta.
