Broncos addition of Wes Welker

The New England Patriots tried to stick to the "Patriots Way" to keep Wes Welker. That was a good enough reason for the five-time Pro Bowler wide receiver to stick it to them and try to win his first Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos instead.

Quarterback Tom Brady restructured his contract to help the Patriots afford Welker, but that didn't keep team officials from lowballing a player who caught 672 balls for them over the past six seasons. The Patriots gambled that their "slot machine" wouldn't get something better on the open market. Now Brady will get to watch his rival counterpart, Peyton Manning, benefit from Welker's prolific production in Denver.
